This Sjobergs Educational bench uses almost entirely selected European beech in its construction, the top panels being 40mm thick. Substantial 70mm square legs and 70 x 40mm horizontal braces ensure an extremely rigid structure. This style of bench is very popular with schools, having space for up to four pupils to work on small projects. The 605mm central square panel in the centre is reversible, forming a shallow well for small tools etc. It is easily possible to configure the horizontal braces to allow a wheelchair user to work comfortably at the bench. One each side there is a removable insert, which allows the fitting of a 180mm (7") quick-release woodworking vice. A kit is available comprising a York vice and fittings. Also available is a choice of cupboards, each of which has two lockable compartments for the storage of tools or small work projects. The cupboards are either melamine faced board or in much stronger 16mm birch ply. A pair of cupboards fitted to the bench will provide a locker for each side. This is a quality bench, perfect for a school workshop or furniture restorer.
