The Munro Standard Hollowing tool is a superb tool for hollowing medium to large vessels. Suitable for use with cross grain or parallel grain, the depth of cut is easily adjusted and an excellent finish can be attained straight from the tool. The articulated head enables undercutting the necks of hollow forms or overhanging bowl rims. Adjustment screws are positioned underneath the tool which helps to prevent clogging. The cushioned aluminium handle when held against the body, gives excellent support and control for hollowing deep inside a vessel. The complete kit includes the handle, 3 HSS cutters, a cutter head, 16mm (5/8") shaft, 2 x 16mm (5/8") diameter straight links, a tool holder to facilitate sharpening, and the necessary hex keys for assembly and adjustment. Also available separately is a shear scraper holder kit, with or without a shaft a spare cutter pack and a solid carbide cutter. Although both types of cutter will work with seasoned or unseasoned timber, for the best performance we would advise the use of the supplied HSS cutters for green unseasoned wood and the optional carbide cutters for dry seasoned timber.
