A Tenon Saw is a large backsaw used for making accurate deep cuts in furniture joinery. It should cut straight and fast, and the blade should not bind in the cut. Filed crosscut, the Tenon saw is used for cross grain work like tenon shoulders, housing dados and sliding dovetails, or precise cut offs with a mitre box. For cutting tenon shoulders, which is with the grain, a saw with rip filed teeth is offered. The Lie-Nielsen Tenon Saw is based on a classic Henry Disston model. All the Lie-Nielsen Tenon saws feature curly Maple handles. The brass strip, which stiffens the blade and adds weight to the cut, is milled solid brass 19 x 6.35mm(3/4" x 1/4"). The blade is finest Swedish Steel, 0.8mm(.032") thick. With the teeth set at 0.1mm(.004") thick. With the teeth set at 0.1mm(.004") per side. The Saws come in two sizes. A 300mm(12") long blade giving a maximum 75mm(3") depth of cut, the overall length being 438mm(17.1/4") overall. Available as a 10ppi rip saw or 13ppi crosscut, a 350mm(14") bladed version, with a 92mm(3.5/8") depth of cut and 490mm(19 1/4") overall length, available as a 10ppi rip or 13ppi crosscut. These saws are solid, well balanced and smooth cutting.
