The Carcass Saw is used for precise cuts across the grain, cutting tenon shoulders, and defining the edges of a dado. It has 14 points per 25mm, filed crosscut, for cutting quickly, yet accurately and smoothly. The blade is 0.5mm(.020") thick, with a 0.07mm(.003") set. Overall length, including handle, is 400mm(16"), with usable blade dimensions of 275mm(11") long by 57mm(2.1/4") deep. An ideal complement to the Dovetail Saw again based on an English pattern of the 1830s. Complementing the cross cut saw are two rip cut filed carcass saws, one with 14 points for fine tenon work or dovetailing, and a coarser 10 point rip version which makes an excellent small general tenon saw.
